UPDATE ON BURSARY/SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
I wish to inform all Ondo State Students who have made payments but have not been able to complete their applications as at the closing date (20/05/2014), that the application portal will still be opened till midnight of Friday 23rd May, 2014, for them to be able to complete their application. This is to ensure that no one is unjustly denied the right to apply having already made payment.
Also, AAUA and ADEYEMI COLLEGE will be paid their outstanding Bursary on or before this Friday.
I thank you all for your patience.
Chairman, Scholarship Board.
CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME ADDRESS
EXPANDING THE FRONTIERS
Since the establishment of the Scholarship Board in year 2000, a lot have been done to put it on a very strong footing. To this end, we can say confidently that we met a very solid foundation.
With the movement from analog to full digital operations from year 2011 and the concomitant benefits thereof, the Board has been better positioned to meet the needs of the students of Ondo State. Today, the Board is at your finger tips wherever you may be all over the world. The processes have been liberalised, giving more people access to the Board and its activities.
However, a lot of grounds need to be covered especially in terms of expanding the frontiers of the scholarship scheme. The current Board intends to give attention to both the postgraduate and foreign scholarship schemes, which hitherto have not been operational. Being mindful of the limited funds at government disposal, we do not intend to go the traditional way of looking into the hands of government to embark on these schemes. We are seeking the partnership of private sector organisations and international scholarship funding agencies to complement the efforts of government. I must give credit to Chevron, for leading a consortium of organisations in providing annual scholarship for 450 indigenes of Ondo State in the field of medicine, engineering and related courses. To this end, we seek the support of spirited organisations to drive the schemes.
One of our key targets is to ensure that Bursary and Scholarship are paid by June/July every year. This, we believe, is the way to go, especially if the academic calendar in the country is stable, because many of the beneficiaries are expected to have graduated anytime from July. There is certainly no point giving out bursary and scholarship after the beneficiaries have graduated and have less or no need for them.
We intend to run regular sensitisation programmes for our students on how they can access available scholarship and free exchange programmes especially from educational agencies across the globe. To complement this, we have created a potlet on our website where links to many of these organisations can be seen. By the way, our website has now been redesigned to make it more functional, interactive and user friendly.
These and many more, by the grace of God, we intend to focus on, as we reposition the Board and expand the frontiers of its activities. We enlist the cooperation of all stakeholders in this regard.
I welcome you to the Ondo State Scholarship Board.
NOTE: THE FIVE HUNDRED NAIRA (500) APLLICATION FEE SHOULD BE PAID INTO THE UBA CONNECT ACCOUNT
